With all the order gatherers that provide flower delivery, the public is not happy with the service they are receiving. The value of the products or quality. What we have found at Lasting Florals Florist is that consumers want to speak to the designer that they are purchasing the flower gifts they are sending. We hear it every day, sure anyone can go online to a large franchise and place a flower order that tons of florists carry, THE SAME THING. Lasting Florals has been in business 14 years, survived the recession and has gained a very large repeat clientele. The reason for that in the flower industry is because we are trustworthy, consistent and have the customers best interest at heart and budget. Large company's and some small pay large fees to be a member of various National Florist website memberships. The price of that is passed on and guess to whom ????? Lasting Florals does not which greatly benefits the consumer.  We are not REQUIRED to have merchandise that benefits a distributor of such products when we can provide unique artisan inspired vessels, containers and glass ware for our floral arrangements. Yes we can duplicate anything you see on line if you want.

I guess this is more of an informative piece about the industry as a whole. You can go online and put in consumer complaints for florists and see what pops up. Consumers that have paid for something they did not get, orders being directed to a florist they have never used in the past, ridiculous hidden services charges, and flowers delivered in a box left on the porch. Yes, we are a small mom and pop business and accountable for every product that leaves our shop. So shop local and shop smart !!!

Wedding Centerpieces

Personalizing your wedding centerpieces. Think about what you want to represent to your guests on your Wedding Day. 

 Most couples I work with want to express who they really are and what is important and enjoyable to them as a couple. Of coarse color and flower selection is the very beginning of the process, but then it requires some thought as to what you want placed on your tables. 

There is no longer just a standard desire for a vase or low centerpiece of flowers. Very often I find I am designing with multiples of a variety of items, even to include the table numbers as part of the overall table scape. Lets just say for instance the Groom is a Carpenter, well he loves to construct wooden objects and has decided to make custom frames for each table number. The beauty of such custom or collected objects is from the Wedding Day on, they are keepsakes to later display, use and enjoy in your new home together. Say you met in college and indulge yourselves in the lust for books, gather some of your favorites and display them on your tables. They make wonderful props for small gathered vases of fresh stems.

My point is really this, it IS your day, you will be entertaining people from near and far, close relations and some meeting maybe for the first time as guests. How did you meet one another ? At a zoo, maybe you collect animal statuary, do the both of you love to travel, think of tent cards of every place you plan to travel from this day forward. Then rely on your wedding florist to bring this vision to life for you and with you. There is something magical in the use of fresh products in all their beauty to incorporate into your selected objects that will guarantee to delight your guests when seated. Your flowers should be a reflection of where you were, where the two of you are on your wedding day and what a glimpse into your future might be.
What I'm seeing and designing is past, present and future themes through out the various places where flowers exist at the venue.

It is also important for your designer to know the acetic of the reception location to work comfortably with the surroundings. This has been a major advantage in my personal experience, from mantle lenght, to ceiling height , lighting, carpeting , chair selection and the like. You want it to fit as though it part of the wonderful decor you chose in the first place, emphasizing the space and original ambiance.

Wedding flower flexability.

I chose this picture of peonies because almost all Brides are familiar with them. All Brides that are familiar with them also know that at times they may be rather tuff to have for a wedding date outside of Spring.  When you visit with a florist to discuss wedding flowers you should have a pretty good idea of what type of flowers appeal to you. You might have just been looking at pictures on line or have a clear knowledge of the flowers themselves. As a professional wedding vendor it is our job to be able to educate Brides to be and consumers alike what is available and when. With that in mind it is also essential for a Bride to be flexible and know that at times substitutions may have to be made. So during the consultation it is great if the florist is able to make alternative suggestions for substitutions right on the spot. This shows you that 1, they know there stuff and 2, that your requests will be made once you sign the contract and you don't wind up with something completely different than you imaged on your wedding day.

The best compliment I get when discussing wedding day flowers with a Bride is that she completely trusts me. I have left her feeling confident that what ever comes along in the world of nature I can handle it and  still bring the look she wanted in the first place to her Wedding Day. There is a small price to pay for this but it is worth it in the long run. There is nothing more upsetting than hearing horror stories about couples dis-satisfied with the outcome of the florals on one of the most important days of their lives. Not to mention flowers hold a key importance during all of the photographs taken during the day. So the importance of looking at the whole picture plays a key role in floral design. Think backdrops, color, locations, product availability and creativity.
